Berg 1 is functional sculpture, mating untamed stone to formed and polished white oak. I was inspired by the manmade stone jetties around my studio on the Redhook waterfront, and by the hardscrabble growth of trees straight out of barren rock. The base is a boulder of basalt and quartz, the top turned solid american white oak. A one of a kind, the first of a series.
